JOHOR PORT WELCOMES THE ARRIVAL OF TWO NEW QUAY CRANES TO FURTHER STRENGTHEN ITS CONTAINER HANDLING CAPABILITIES

PORT KLANG, 7 November 2025 – Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (“Northport”), a member of MMC Group, has continued its record-breaking momentum by achieving its highest-ever monthly container throughput in October 2025, surpassing its previous record set last year. The milestone was achieved with a total handling volume of 366,131 TEUs (“Twenty-foot Equivalent Units”) in October 2025, exceeding the previous record of 365,558 TEUs set in August 2024.

In the previous month, Northport also achieved a new monthly record in its conventional cargo handling operations, with a total throughput of 1,327,883 FWTs (“Freight Weight Tonnes”), surpassing the previous highest record of 1,277,409 FWTs set in October 2024.

“This back-to-back monthly record-breaking achievement in both the container and conventional cargo segments reflects our capability to deliver efficient and reliable services which continues to earn our customers’ trust and confidence. We believe this momentum positions Northport on the right track towards another year of strong performance in both container and conventional cargo handling,” said Nik Muzani Nik Abdul Aziz, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Northport.

For the year-to-date (YTD) period up to October 2025, Northport recorded a total container handling volume of 3,129,491 TEUs, reflecting a growth of 2.2% compared to the same period last year. The segment composition also recorded growth of 2.9% in local cargo and 1.5% in transhipment cargo, compared to the same period last year.

The current performance continues to demonstrate strong potential for Northport, as several initiatives and projects are underway to further enhance terminal capacity and operational efficiency. The ongoing wharf upgrading project is expected to enable the terminal to accommodate larger vessels, thereby strengthening Northport’s competitiveness in the region. Meanwhile, the arrival of four new quay cranes in 2026 will further boost productivity and optimize operational performance to support Northport’s long-term growth.

“By continuously striving for excellence, we will be able to deliver consistent performance and reliable service to our customers. These achievements would not have been possible without the strong dedication and teamwork of our employees. The synergy within TeamNorthport proves that no challenge is too great when we work together towards a common goal,” said Nik Muzani.
