NORTHPORT ACQUIRES 71 UNITS OF NEW PRIME MOVERS TO ENHANCE TERMINAL EFFICIENCY
PORT KLANG, 18 March 2026 – Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (“Northport”), a subsidiary of MMC Port Holdings Berhad (“MMC Ports”) and a member of the MMC Group, took delivery of 37 units of new prime movers from Terberg Tractors Malaysia Sdn Bhd (“Terberg”). The delivery marks the third batch of a total of 71 units purchased from Terberg, highlighting Northport’s commitment to optimising terminal productivity and further strengthening service reliability across its operations as part of its ongoing terminal modernisation and digitalisation initiatives.
PORT KLANG, 18 March 2026 – Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (“Northport”), a subsidiary of MMC Port Holdings Berhad (“MMC Ports”) and a member of the MMC Group, took delivery of 37 units of new prime movers from Terberg Tractors Malaysia Sdn Bhd (“Terberg”). The delivery marks the third batch of a total of 71 units purchased from Terberg, highlighting Northport’s commitment to optimising terminal productivity and further strengthening service reliability across its operations as part of its ongoing terminal modernisation and digitalisation initiatives.
A handover ceremony of the prime movers was held at Wharf 8A, with representatives from both Northport and Terberg in attendance. As a symbolic gesture to mark the occasion, Jonathan Teo, General Manager of Terberg, presented a replica key to Nik Muzani Nik Abdul Aziz, Chief Executive Officer of Northport.
“The acquisition of these new prime movers will enhance the efficiency and productivity of Northport’s operations, enabling us to deliver consistent and reliable services to our customers. The new fleet will accommodate the increasing capacity of our terminal, supporting sustainable growth and future expansion of our port operations,” said Nik Muzani.

The newly acquired YT220_4x2 prime movers are powered by high-performance Cummins engines and are designed to enhance reliability, fuel efficiency and operational stability. Equipped with advanced suspension and safety features, the units will be deployed across the terminal to facilitate seamless container movements between the quayside, container yards and warehouse facilities.
A total of 71 units of prime movers were delivered to Northport in several batches from January to March 2026. In addition, Northport is also expected to receive a further 20 units of new SINOTRUK prime movers by April 2026 as part of its broader fleet expansion programme. With these acquisitions, the total number of Northport’s prime mover fleet will increase to 190 units.
“The replacement and expansion of our prime mover fleet will enhance terminal efficiency by ensuring smoother container movements and improved vessel and yard performance. Equipped with advanced features to support operational excellence, these assets are aligned with our strategic direction towards the ‘Modernisation and Digitalisation’ of the terminal,” said Nik Muzani.
