NORTHPORT RECEIVES WAN HAI LINES' LARGEST CONTAINER VESSEL AT ITS TERMINAL
On 6 April 2026, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, welcomed the arrival of MV Wan Hai A17 at its terminal. Owned by Wan Hai Lines, the vessel has a capacity of 13,458 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units), making it the largest Wan Hai Lines container vessel ever to call at Northport.
Measuring 335 metres in length and 51 metres in width, Wan Hai A17 is part of Wan Hai Lines’ A-series, one of the largest container vessels in the fleet of the Taiwanese shipping line. The vessel was named in August 2024 as part of the company’s ongoing fleet expansion programme.
Wan Hai A17 is equipped with energy-saving, fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, in line with Wan Hai Lines’ efforts to modernise its fleet and enhance operating efficiency. The vessel has also obtained the Smart Ship Notation certification, enabling real-time monitoring of navigation data and equipment operations.
The vessel’s call at Northport reflects Wan Hai Lines’ continued fleet expansion, as well as its confidence in Northport’s ability to ensure operational efficiency and service reliability throughout the vessel’s port stay. The call further strengthens Northport’s longstanding business relationship with Wan Hai Lines, reflecting a shared commitment towards operational excellence and sustainable growth.
