KONTENA NASIONAL BERHAD EXPANDS ITS FLEET WITH THE ADDITION OF 30 NEW PRIME MOVERS

GELANG PATAH, 19 May 2022 – Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group in collaboration with Johor Port Authority (JPA) organised mini festive celebrations at three different charity homes to brighten their Hari Raya.

The CSR-based programme was organised as part of a collaborative effort by both organisations to put a smile on the residents faces by celebrating Hari Raya together and at the same time to aid charity homes during the festive season.

Located within Johor Bahru district, the three charity homes are Baitus Solehah, a shelter for women, PDK Nusajaya, a community rehabilitation centre for the disabled (slow learner, down syndrome, autism, etc) and Pusat Jagaan Kasih Rohani, an old folks’ home.

A total of 130 residents were celebrated through this annual programme where residents enjoyed Raya delicacies such as ‘nasi briyani’ with the volunteers. In addition to providing cheer during this festive month, food aids such as rice, flour, cooking oil, diapers and among others were also handed over during the mini celebrations.

In a statement, Kamaruzaman Munasir, General Manager of Johor Port Authority commented that “Seeing that for the past two years, volunteers were not able to mingle with the residents for such celebrations, this year we have decided to make it extra special by celebrating birthdays of the residents. Gestures like these although small, will have a great effect on their upbringing and memories.”

PTP Chief Executive Officer, Marco Neelsen said, “Since 2018, it has been a tradition for both PTP and JPA to celebrate residents of homes during this festive season. Apart from sharing the joy of Raya, about 35 PTP and LPJ volunteers were able to connect, build meaningful relationships with the residents and give back to the community.”

Azura Muhammad, a supervisor at PDK Nusajaya greatly appreciates the effort taken by big organisations such as PTP and LPJ in organising a such celebrations for its’s physically challenged residents. “Celebrating Hari Raya together with the volunteers makes the residents very happy and it also allows them to practise their social skills and improve self-confidence interacting with outsiders.”

PTP in collaboration with LPJ has been implementing Hari Raya Celebration and Aid Distribution programme for more than 4 years. The programmes not only help the development of a sustainable community but also as an avenue for PTP staff to continuously give back to the community via CSR activities.
