PTP CELEBRATES HANDOVER OF 83 NEW ELECTRIC RUBBER TYRED GANTRY CRANES

On 4 April 2026, Port of Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group, marked the official handover of 83 Mitsui Electric Rubber Tyred Gantry (eRTG) cranes. This latest development supports PTP’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its terminal operations.

The milestone event was graced by Mark Hardiman, PTP Chief Executive Officer, alongside Atsufumi Takahashi, Mitsui General Manager, and Keisuke Matsumaru from the Mitsui Tokyo Head Office, together with members of PTP’s leadership team.

The commissioning of these advanced cranes reflects PTP’s unwavering commitment to expanding capacity and scaling capabilities to meet growing global demand. By continuously enhancing efficiency and optimising its operational footprint, PTP remains strategically positioned to maintain its competitiv edge in an evolving global market.

The acquisition of these eRTGs is a cornerstone of PTP’s Ipsum Magna Program, a strategic optimisation initiative aimed at sustainably upgrading terminal facilities through cutting-edge automation and digitisation.

In line with its sustainability agenda, these cranes also support PTP’s decarbonisation efforts. PTP is committed to achieving a 45% reduction in emissions by 2030, aligning its operations with the goals of the Paris Agreement and a greener maritime future.
