On 29 May 2024, Penang Port Sdn Bhd (Penang Port), a member of MMC Group has been recognised for excellence in maritime logistics. Penang Port received the prestigious BrandLaureate Fast Moving Growing Sustainable Business & Brands Award 2024 for ‘Excellence in Global Expansion for Maritime Logistics’ at a ceremony in Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
On 28 May 2024, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, and the Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) announced a collaborative initiative aimed at fostering sustainable urban agriculture through an innovative large-scale vertical farming project. Known as the “Circle of Life Community Garden”, this initiative is set to expand urban farming in Klang, promoting community engagement and integrating principles of the circular economy.
On 20 May 2024, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, celebrated a historic milestone as it welcomed MV OOCL Japan, the largest ever container vessel to berth at its facilities. Owned by Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) Limited, MV OOCL Japan boasts a capacity of 21,413 TEUs, setting a new record for Northport by surpassing the previous largest ship to call at its port, Eugen Maersk, which had a capacity of 11,000 TEUs in 2013.
On 9 May 2024, Penang Port Sdn Bhd (Penang Port), a member of MMC Group, organised the Aidilfitri Open House Ceremony with Government agencies and port users at Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal, George Town.
In the spirit of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, recently hosted its annual Hari Raya Open House. The event, held on 26 April 2024, served as a gathering for Northport’s large community, which included customers, business partners, Government Agencies, community leaders, Northport employees and other stakeholders.
In celebration of Earth Day on 22 April 2024, Penang Port Sdn Bhd (Penang Port), a member of MMC Group, joined forces with Yayasan Amal Tuan Yang Terutama Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang and the State Housing and Environment EXCO for the Planting of One Million Trees in One Day, in conjunction with Earth Day at Sekolah Kebangsaan Mak Mandin, Butterworth.
On 3 April 2024, Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), a member of MMC Group, announced the signing of an agreement with Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co. Ltd (ZPMC) for the purchase of five Ultra Large Container Vessel (ULCV) Quay Cranes.
On 2 April 2024, Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group, hosted a working visit by Jaafar Leman, Director of the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) Johor and his delegation.
On 1 April 2024, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC group organised a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2024. The main objective of the programme was to raise awareness of environmental sustainability among primary school children through vertical farming at Sekolah Kebangsaan Rantau Panjang, Klang.
Penang Port Sdn Bhd (Penang Port), a member of MMC Group, undertook a commendable initiative in collaboration with the committee members of Masjid Jamek Qaryah Bagan Dalam, Butterworth, on 29 March 2024. In the spirit of Ramadan, Penang Port and Masjid Qaryah Jamek Bagan Dalam committee joined hands to prepare and distribute 1,000 packages of bubur lambuk to the Bagan Dalam community and Penang Ferry passengers.
