On 9 September 2024, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, successfully convened the Group Internal Audit Roundtable Meeting (GIARM) 03/2024, bringing together Head of Group Internal Audit, Head of Internal Audit Departments and Internal Auditors from across the MMC Group of Companies namely, MMC Corporation Berhad (MMC), Northport (Malaysia) Bhd, Penang Port Sdn Bhd, Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd, Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd, Gas Malaysia Berhad, Malakoff Corporation Berhad and Alam Flora Sdn Bhd. The GIARM was chaired by Lim Lee Tin, Head of Internal Audit Department, Johor Port.

On 7 September 2024, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, demonstrated its commitment into supporting the community by donating a Wakalah Fund to Sekolah Agama Pontian Besar. This initiative is part of Johor Port’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, aimed at improving educational opportunities and supporting local schools.

On 3 September 2024, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, welcomed the Johor State Customs Director for a strategic working visit aimed at enhancing collaboration and operational efficiency within the Free Zone area. The visit included a comprehensive tour of the port’s facilities, culminating with a rooftop viewing and photography session that offered a panoramic view of the bustling port activities and infrastructure.

3 September 2024, Port of Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of the MMC Group, strengthened its ties with the Johor Media fraternity during a media relations event held at Lesung, by Johara Cafe, Johor Bahru.

On 2 September 2024, upon achieving the highest monthly throughput of 102,324 Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit (TEUs) in August 2024, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, distributed a simple token of appreciation to the company’s haulier partners. The token comprising of 1,000 packed briyani meals were created to recognise the unwavering support from the haulier partners. Joining the distribution, Md Derick Basir, Chief Executive Officer of Johor Port, attendance has created a moment of celebration and camaraderie. The distribution of the packed briyani was held at Johor Port Gate-In Container Yard.

In August 2024, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, proudly celebrated Malaysia’s 67th Independence Day by installing Jalur Gemilang flags across the port and distributing Malaysian flags to all haulier drivers entering the port. The two events, which were held separately, symbolised the port’s dedication to the nation and embody the spirit of unity, pride, and Jiwa Merdeka, while merrily celebrating the festival together as a community. The flag installation included a display of giant flags at the port’s main entrance and Wisma Kontena.

In August 2024, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, recorded its highest monthly throughput of 102,324 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units), making it the highest monthly throughput in its history and overtaking the previous record of 99,039 TEUs, handled in the month of July 2019.

In August 2024, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, has achieved another milestone by breaking its monthly container and conventional cargo throughput records for the second consecutive month. Within the month, Northport handled a total of 365,558 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) of containers, the company’s highest ever monthly container throughput, surpassing the previous record of 354,548 TEUs set just a month earlier. The company also broke its conventional cargo monthly record with the handling of 1,145,021 FWTs (Freight Weight Tonnes), surpassing the previous record of 1,143,318 FWTs also set in July 2024.

On 28 August 2024, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, hosted a delegation from Petronas Chemical MBTE Sdn Bhd (Petronas Chemical), led by Ramzan Fathin Abdul Mujib, Executive of Culture & Behaviour, for an insightful visit that included an overview of the port’s operations, a port tour and a series of technical sharing sessions. The visit was aimed at enhancing mutual understanding and exploring collaborative opportunities between the two industries.

On 28th August 2024, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, recently welcomed a group of students and teachers from SMK Taman Kluang Barat for an educational visit aimed at providing insights into Port Operations, Logistics and career opportunities in the Maritime Industry. The visit reflects Johor Port’s commitment in engaging with the community and nurturing the next generation of talent.
