In August 2024, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, has achieved another milestone by breaking its monthly container and conventional cargo throughput records for the second consecutive month. Within the month, Northport handled a total of 365,558 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) of containers, the company’s highest ever monthly container throughput, surpassing the previous record of 354,548 TEUs set just a month earlier. The company also broke its conventional cargo monthly record with the handling of 1,145,021 FWTs (Freight Weight Tonnes), surpassing the previous record of 1,143,318 FWTs also set in July 2024.

On 28 August 2024, Johor Port Berhad (Johor Port), a member of MMC Group, hosted a delegation from Petronas Chemical MBTE Sdn Bhd (Petronas Chemical), led by Ramzan Fathin Abdul Mujib, Executive of Culture & Behaviour, for an insightful visit that included an overview of the port’s operations, a port tour and a series of technical sharing sessions. On 27 August 2024, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (“Northport”), a member of MMC Group, launched the Northport Apprenticeship Programme as an initiative to enhance local talent development while empowering the workforce within its community. On 24 – 27 August 2024, Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group recently hosted a dynamic supplier engagement programme centred around Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives. Aimed at catalysing PTP's ESG journey while fostering vendor alignment, and drive sustainable practices throughout the supply chain, the event drew a crowd of nearly 300 participants representing 180 PTP suppliers, contractors, and vendors.

From 21 to 24 August 2024, Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd (PTP), a member of MMC Group has once again made Malaysia proud at the 14th ASEAN Ports Association (APA) Sports Meet in Kuala Lumpur and successfully bagged five winnings. The prestigious tournament, hosted by the Port Klang Authority, saw over 400 athletes from across Southeast Asia compete in various sports.

On 15 August 2024, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (Northport), a member of MMC Group, Kuantan Port Consortium Sdn Bhd (Kuantan Port), a subsidiary of IJM Corporation Berhad and Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalise collaborative efforts to ensure the realisation of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) land bridge connecting Kuantan Port to Port Klang, enhancing connectivity, seamless integration, efficiency and streamlining transfer of goods between the two ports.
