Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (“Northport”), a member of MMC Group, has launched the Northport Apprenticeship Programme as an initiative to enhance local talent development and empower the workforce within its community. This programme aims to equip aspiring local talents with the essential knowledge and skills needed for employment as prime mover drivers within Northport and its strategic partners in the ports and logistics industry.
Kuantan Port Consortium Sdn Bhd (“Kuantan Port”), a subsidiary of IJM Corporation Berhad, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (“Northport”), a member of MMC Group, and Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (“MRL”) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) to formalise collaborative efforts to ensure the realisation of the East Coast Rail Link ("ECRL") land bridge connecting Kuantan Port to Port Klang, enhancing connectivity, seamless integration, efficiency and streamlined transfer of goods between the two ports.
Northport (Malaysia) Bhd ("Northport"), a member of MMC Group, has achieved an unprecedented double success by breaking monthly records in both its container and conventional cargo business segments in July 2024.
Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), a joint venture between Malaysia-based MMC Group and Netherlands-based APM Terminals has set a new record by handling 1,115,181 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in a single month – all without experiencing any congestion.
– Penang Port Sdn Bhd (Penang Port) today announced a significant investment in a new fleet of Kalmar container handlers, marking a major step forward in optimising its operations and improving service delivery. The new fleet comprises four Empty Container Handlers and one Reach Stacker. Renowned for their reliability and extensive experience in mobile machinery, Kalmar container handlers are set to revolutionise Penang Port’s operations.
Southpoint, a port facility in Port Klang operated by Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (“Northport”), a member of MMC Group, has achieved a remarkable milestone by setting a new record for the highest monthly cargo handling volume. In May 2024, Southpoint handled a total of 297,337 Metric Tons (MT) of cargo, marking a significant growth of 59.1% compared to the same month last year. This performance surpasses the previous record of 289,826 MT set in August 2001.
Tanjung Bruas Port Sdn Bhd (Tanjung Bruas Port), a member of MMC Group, marked a significant milestone with the maiden call of MV Xin Yi Glass, which set sail for Katuppali Port, India. The vessel docked at Tanjung Bruas Port carrying a substantial cargo of 630 TEUs of 20-foot Laden Containers with highquality float Glass products from Xinyi Glass Malaysia.
In conjunction with the National Training Week (“NTW”) 2024, Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (“Northport”), a member of MMC Group, was honoured as one of the strategic partners of NTW 2024. The certificate of appreciation was presented by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, to Northport’s Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Azman Shah Mohd Yusof, during the NTW 2024 Summit at Bukit Jalil National Stadium on 30th June 2024.
