Southpoint, a port facility in Port Klang operated by Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (“Northport”), a member of MMC Group, has achieved a remarkable milestone by setting a new record for the highest monthly cargo handling volume. In May 2024, Southpoint handled a total of 297,337 Metric Tons (MT) of cargo, marking a significant growth of 59.1% compared to the same month last year. This performance surpasses the previous record of 289,826 MT set in August 2001.

Tanjung Bruas Port Sdn Bhd (Tanjung Bruas Port), a member of MMC Group, marked a significant milestone with the maiden call of MV Xin Yi Glass, which set sail for Katuppali Port, India. The vessel docked at Tanjung Bruas Port carrying a substantial cargo of 630 TEUs of 20-foot Laden Containers with highquality float Glass products from Xinyi Glass Malaysia.

Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (“Northport”), a member of MMC Group officially received 9 units of new Rubber Tyred Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), a joint venture between Malaysia-based MMC Group and Netherlands-based APM Terminals, achieved a new milestone by handling a record 1,077,747 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in a single month. This achievement, accomplished without any congestion, reinforces PTP’s position as Malaysia’s busiest and largest transshipment hub. (“RTG”) cranes. The new terminal equipment is the first batch of a total of 23 units of diesel-powered RTGs and 11 units of electrified RTGs or eRTGs purchased by Northport from Mitsui E&S Machinery Co., Ltd. (“Mitsui E&S”).

Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (“Northport”), a member of MMC Group, set a new record after handling the highest monthly container throughput of 335,361 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit) in May 2024, a significant growth of 26.6 percent against May last year. This achievement surpassed the previous record of 310,865 TEUs, which was set in December 2020.

Northport (Malaysia) Bhd (“Northport”), a member of MMC Group, celebrated a historic milestone as it welcomed MV OOCL Japan on 20 May 2024, the largest ever container vessel to berth at its facilities. Owned by Orient Overseas Container Line (“OOCL”) Limited, MV OOCL Japan boasts a capacity of 21,413 TEUs, setting a new record for Northport by surpassing the previous largest ship to call at its port, Eugen Maersk, which had a capacity of 11,000 TEUs in 2013.
