KONTENA NASIONAL BERHAD EXPANDS ITS FLEET WITH THE ADDITION OF 30 NEW PRIME MOVERS

Kontena Nasional Berhad received 30 units of Volvo’s FM440 6×2 T RAS prime movers from Volvo Trucks Malaysia in a fleet expansion and modernisation move.

PORT KLANG, 4 April 2022 – Malaysia’s logistics industry pioneer, Kontena Nasional Berhad (Kontena Nasional), a wholly-owned subsidiary of MMC Corporation Berhad (MMC), has acquired 30 units of Volvo FM440 6×2 T RAS prime movers from Volvo Trucks Malaysia. A handover ceremony was held at Volvo Trucks Malaysia dealership in Port Klang on the 29 March 2022 to unveil the prime movers in Kontena Nasional’s distinctive new livery.

The ceremony proceedings included a presentation of a truck scale model and a mock-upkey to Nik Muzani bin Nik Abd Aziz, the Chief Executive Officer of Kontena Nasional.  The first 20 units from a total of 30 prime movers have been delivered, with the remaining units expected to arrive by end of April 2022.

“The newly acquired prime movers are part of Kontena Nasional’s business expansion plan towards achieving logistics excellence and delivering quality services to our customers. It will also support our fleet readiness for new and bigger market outreach,” said Nik Muzani.

From its establishment in 1971 when containerisation was first introduced to the country, Kontena Nasional has expanded its core container haulage business to include international freight forwarding, warehousing, distribution, supply chain solutions, and halal logistics, in line with its vision of becoming Malaysia’s premier supply chain solutions provider.
